Laser Vaginal Therapy can treat a number of issues that affect the reproductive system - particularly the vaginal canal - due to natural aging and/or childbirth. These include:
During the procedure, a gynecologist inserts a vaginal probe that directs carbon dioxide laser energy to stimulate collagen and elastin. This laser technology, already widely used by dermatologists to treat skin conditions, restores vaginal tissue and increases hydration.
Laser Vaginal Therapy lasts for five to seven minutes (per session), and can take place in your gynecologist’s office. For optimal results, a series of three treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart is needed, followed by one annual treatment. Many women begin to notice significant improvement after the first treatment.
The procedure has no downtime and produces very little to no discomfort. Your doctor may use a lidocaine numbing jelly for 20 minutes right before the treatment to truly minimize any discomfort.
Somerset offers diVa Laser Vaginal Therapy treatments. diVa utilizes Hybrid Fractional Laser (HFL) technology, featuring non-ablative and ablative wavelengths. (Ablative laser tech uses an intense wavelength of light to remove damaged skin/tissues.)
The first laser deeply resurfaces the layers of the vaginal wall, replacing it with brand new, healthy tissue. The second laser heats the layers of the tissue where collagen exists. This treatment method is what allows Somerset to care for patients without discomfort or downtown. It also allows our team to customize your treatments (i.e. targeting, strength, etc.) to maximize your results.
